Program Overview

We offer a unique program that combines expert, versatile cycling training with integrated fitness to develop kids 8-18 yrs of age into champions on the bike and in daily life. We support junior cyclists competing or not in track, road, and cyclocross disciplines with elite-level coaching.

The journey starts with a no-cost, 5 day a week, 10-20 hr. camp called “Quest Explorers” designed to introduce skills beyond the fundamentals of cycling to youth and identify athletes with the drive and commitment to train and compete at all levels.

Kids who show aptitude and dedication may advance on to a paid, tiered training program. Scholarships are available at all levels.

What Makes Us Different?

Quinny’s Quest exists to enhance kids’ lives through cycling, with benefits that manifest both on and off the bike.

We deliver on this promise by providing a program that is unique in its breadth and depth. Here’s what makes us special:

1: Our Founder and Head Coach

Our on-the-bike training is led by world class cyclist Becky Quinn. Her coaching is one on one and tailored to each individual athlete. She offers hands-on development, detailed physical adjustments during bike fittings and mindset training. She’s an expert at finding and nurturing top athletic talent.

2: Our Whole-Athlete Focus

Strength training, mobility training and nutrition guidance enhances our athletic training. Kate Chakey, a movement specialist and educator, has designed programs that complement the athlete’s cycling training and improve their performance on the bike and beyond.

3: Our Off-the-Bike Benefits

Quinny’s Quest is committed to creating more than cycling champions: we nurture life champions. We believe in building character through athletic practice and developing lifelong values, such as problem-solving, goal-setting, drive, resilience, commitment, discipline, good judgment, and confidence.

4: Our Community

Quinny’s Quest athletes will be welcomed into the Velodrome cycling community where “Coach Becky” or “Quinny” is a lifelong mentor. They’ll learn what it means to be part of a team.

Programs

Quest Explorer

  • This no cost program is open to any child that has basic bike skills and at least one season of experience in a activity or organization through a school or club.
It is a five-day-a-week, 10-20 hr camp held each spring that offers an introduction to cycling and the fundamentals of an athletic practice.

We start by identifying the athlete’s objectives and fitness level, by:

A goal consult: why does the athlete want to participate in the program? For example, do they want to rise to the top tiers of competitive cycling, or just become more skilled everyday bike-riders? Do they want to immerse themselves in a new sport to see if it’s something they wish to pursue further?

A strength and mobility assessment: This will show areas of existing capability and areas in need of development to help the athlete rise to the top of their cycling game

Then, we craft a personalized plan to achieve that goal as far as possible within a 10-20 hr training schedule pending age and ability.

Participants get hands-on, one-on-one training from Becky Quinn . They also receive strength, mobility and nutrition coaching from Kate Chakey.

At the end of the week, the athlete’s goals and abilities are reassessed, and qualified athletes are invited to advance to the level one or level two fall program. Scholarships are available for those programs.

We are committed to making athletes better people on and off the bike, and believe our program delivers on this promise by offering training that is unique in its personalized, whole-athlete approach.

  • Because we want to draw young athletes into the world of cycling, the qualifications for our intensive program are minimal. Applicants must be able to ride a bike, and have at least one season of experience in a activity or organization through a school or club.

At the same time, we want to make sure that Quest participants are set up to succeed. Be mindful that this is a time-intensive commitment. Participants must be willing to take the training seriously and work hard. Program slots are limited, so there is a selection process.

Selected camp graduates who demonstrate talent and commitment may be invited to join our level one or level two training camps. Those who don’t progress are welcome to return to our camp the following year.

Scholarship Program

We believe the champions of tomorrow can come from all walks of life. Not every future medalist has the support network, financial resources, or connection to the cycling community to find and join a training program or club team.

That’s why our 5 day a week, 10-20 hr. camp is free, and why we offer scholarships to athletes that demonstrate the talent and dedication to advance to our training programs.

Scholarships offset the fees for our Level One, Apprentice and Level Two, Master training programs, and also can include:

  • Free entry to sponsored events

  • Funds toward a cycling uniform

  • Donor-provided equipment

Movement & Nutrition Coaching

Quinny’s Quest believes that a well-rounded fitness program helps athletes maximize their potential and builds the best cyclist. That's why our training extends beyond cycling to enhance general mobility, strength, and nutrition.

Movement specialist, personal trainer, and nutrition coach Kate Chakey designed this complementary training track to help athletes approach their cycling training with clarity and efficiency, and get the most out of their bodies and training sessions.

The program includes:

  • Education on anatomical alignment and the function of muscles and joints

  • Individualized strength and mobility training regimens

  • Personalized nutrition coaching
